The morning we challenged a Legendary Murder Mystery Writer…live on Heart Radio!
There are not many things that would make us excited to set a 5am alarm (except perhaps to catch a morning flight down to the South of France) but when Heart Radio got in touch asking us to create a bespoke mini-mystery for them live on air, we set those alarms with glee, and no need to hit snooze either!
Challenging the Detective skills of Murder Mysteries writers is slowly becoming our specialty it seems, having also previously killed off Robert Thorogood for UKTV to launch Series 2 of The Marlow Murder Club in March. So, when hearing Richard Osman would be our lead guest Detective on the case, alongside Amanda Holden & Jamie Theakston, it was time to crack out the whiteboard and get working on the case.
The Case: The Body at the Breakfast Show
Beginning in 1994, Harold Heart has always been at the helm of Heart Radio, growing the broadcaster from a regional channel in the West Midlands to the nations Number 1. Station is it beloved for today.
However, whilst millions of families are entertained by its content, Harold’s own family seem more concerned with benefiting themselves from his hard graft. As an avid Richard Osman fan, Harold and the family have made an appearance today at the studio to meet the author. It seems Harold got more than he bargained for though, as he has been discovered this morning dead in the green room!
With police stuck in traffic from the morning rush, it falls on the Stations resident Detective, Inspector Rutherford, with the help of Richard, Amanda & Jamie to crack the case before it’s too late.
The Suspect Line-Up
After witnessing discovering Harold Heart’s demise, Heart Radio’s resident Detective, Inspector Ruthford (Sam Emmerson) sprang into action, taking charge of the case and identifying the suspects:
Stacey Star (Lauren Shotton)
Dean Heart (Christopher J Railton)
Elliot Ives (Liam Fleming)
Davina Heart (Alice Corrigan)
With a murderer to catch, and 4 suspects potentially behind it all, it fell to Inspector Osman and Detective Holden to try and solve the case, but did they successfully catch the killer?
